A beautiful 19th century Chinese sang de boeuf porcelain melon jar with deep oxblood (Lang Yao) glaze. 8.5"D x 12.75"H. Bought from a gallery in Hong Kong 1980. The sang de boeuf glaze first appeared during the Ming Dynasty (13681644). The disappearance of sang de boeuf glazes occurred along with a slowdown in porcelain production during that periods war-torn later years.
