This type of Chinese export porcelain that was specifically made for the Southeast Asian market, particularly for the Thai market, during the 19th century. The term "Bencharong" is derived from the Thai language, where "bencha" means "five colors, " referring to the predominant use of five colors in the enameling of these porcelains.
