ANTIQUE CHINESE KANGXI SANCAI GLAZE BISCUIT PORCELAIN GUANYIN AND CHILD FIGURINE. The Goddess is depicted seated on a lotus throne above turbulent waves, holding a Ruyi sceptre in one hand and a lotus sprig emitting from her robe on the other side, flanked by two child attendants each standing on a lotus leaf.
With eyes downcast and corners of the lips slightly indented to provide a serene expression. Wearing typical dhoti and flowing robes, with a cowl covering her high chignon hair. The buff coloured biscuit glaze is painted in green, deep aubergine and amber glaze in the typical sancai palette, the base unglazed with a hollow aperture demonstrating the delicacy and fineness of the porcelain. Height: 25.7 cm or 10 1/8 inches.
There are professional restorations to the front of her cowl hood, and to her right hand and the stem of the Ruyi sceptre. Otherwise only expected age appropriate wear - an exceptional piece.
