The porcelain plaque image measures 13.5 inches (34cm) wide and 12 inches (30cm) tall. The plaque and frame and are in excellent preserved condition. Cheng Yi Ting, whose alias was Pu, was also known as Bo Shan Shan Ming.
He was born in Leping, Jiangxi province in 1897 and died in 1948. He was mentored by Zhang Xiaogengand Pan Taoyu, and learned painting of flowers and birds from famous painter Cheng Yaosheng. He was a second generation of the literati school of porcelain painting, and was a member of the Yueyuan Hua, later called the Eight Friends Zhushan, who are considered the best Fencai artists of the Republican period. Chen Yi Ting was specially accomplished at painting flowers and birds, which are considered superb, precious and natural.
