A lovely Transitional porcelain dish made in the mid 17th century, probably. Beautifully decorated with a well painted bird on rocks with bamboo, flowers and a flying insect. Lovely lilac blue colour to the underglaze decoration; good clear glaze. The dish is moulded and has a barbed rim with typical brown washed edge. Roughly made foot with grit adhering.
Has a 5x3mm chip, and a shallow 4x3 glaze flake, both inside the barbed rim (see photos) and some small losses from the brown rim. I aim to use the additional photos to clearly show any damage so that you know exactly what to expect.
