Exquisite antique Chinese hand painted famille rose porcelain teapot and matching plate. The fantastic teapot and plate are hand painted with a scene from the Chinese classic The Three Kingdoms. A story of famous General Jiu Yun whose courage and loyalty was celebrated throughout Chinese history. The scene was from the battle of Chiang Pan.

Where the General fended off rivals and saved his master's son. The general is seen riding on a horse with a baby in a pouch on his chest. Hand painted in fantastic famille rose style.

The teapot and plate are richly painted with pink, green, yellow and other vivid colours. The teapot and the plate are mounted in brass. A distinctive style for Chinese export ware to Southeast Asia in the old days. Fantastic painting, patina, firing peg marks etc are all there. In addition an important lingzhi maker's stamp on the base.

The lingzhi mark was a typical maker's mark from Kangxi Reign. Bought in Bangkok from a house along the Chaophaya River in the late 1960s.

The house belonged to a rich Chinese merchant and these were from his estate. Measurement of teapot : 16.5 cm (L) x 11 cm (W) x 18 cm (H). The battery is there for size comparison only.
