Chinese Antique Porcelain Handpainted Famille Rose Globular Vase Lamp -Beautiful

  
This is a gorgeous and important Chinese vase turned lamp from 18th or 19th century. This famille rose globular vase is finely and elegantly hand painted with several scenes around it. First you have this beautiful bird (looks like black-billed magpie with pretty blue feather) perching on the branch of a plum blossom, looking back. Then, you see this handsome rooster standing on a rock, raising its head and crowing. After that is a pheasant couple walking around a rock playing. All around the vase, you see brightly painted peonies (symbolizes wealth in Chinese tradition) and trees and leaves. There are butterflies, birds, dragonflies flying and a bird perching on a higher branch of the plum blossom turning and talking to another bird. These vivid and lively scenes were executed with great skill and wonderful colors and seems to be from late 18th or 19th century.

This vase itself is about 10" tall (without the wood base and the rest of the lamp) and the lamp is about 20" tall (total). The inside of the lamp shade (man-made material) is crumbling due age and is in bad shape. The metal frame and the outside seem to be good.

The nice wood base seems to be made of good quality wood and is also in very good condition. The porcelain part is in very good antique condition, with no chips or cracks or hairlines. It has a scratch that is visible (see pictures) but does not seem to affect the images very much. The lamp works, so you can use it right away. An old and good quality Chinese vase lamp like this is not very common on the market. The theme depicted by the "magpie on the plum blossom" is a traditional way to express "happy" in Chinese culture. Hope this vase lamp will be a great addition to your home's decoration and bring happiness to you! Note : the shade will no longer be included in the offering. It's fabric and other non-metal material are in bad shape due to age. I'd suggest to get a new one.
