19th C. SAMSON PARIS PORCELAIN CHINESE EXPORT STYLE ARMORIAL 9 SOUP BOWL
Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a beautiful antique Samson Paris porcelain Chinese Export style Armorial 9 soup bowl, c. The porcelain on this bowl is very thin hard-paste porcelain decorated with colorful Chinese Export style Armorial design with outer border decorated in alternating medallions of flowers and rose colored diamond designs. Each medallion is banded with heavily applied gilding on scroll design and the bowl has a green outer border.
The center of the bowl is white porcelain and has an unidentified family Coat of Arms with a crowned lion and a unicorn at the sides. At the top of the crest is a Knight's helmet with a crowned lion above.
The design is further decorated with gilt enamel embellishment and black ribbon below. There are six small flowers with foliage encircling the Armorial design in the center. The colors are vibrant and compliment each other beautifully. Measures 1 1/2" high and 9" in diameter. The bowl is in very good to excellent Estate condition consistent with age and reflects minimal wear.
The enameling is vibrant and reflects little if any wear with no scratches, staining, etc. There is a tiny chip not noticed from the front on the underside of the rim which is not noticed from front and very faint roughness to the rim.
